Casinos' slot-machine winnings were up in November
Foxwoods Resort Casino reported today that it kept $38.3 million in slot-machine wagers after paying out prizes last month, an 8.3 percent increase over the $35.4 million it kept in November 2016.
It’s the largest year-over-year increase Foxwoods has recorded in any month in more than a year-and-a-half.
Mohegan Sun, meanwhile, reported that it kept, or “won,” $47.5 million in slots wagers in November, an increase of four-tenths of a percentage point over the $47.3 million it kept the same month the previous year.
At both casinos, slots “handle” – the total amount of wagers before prizes are paid out – was up in November. Foxwoods reported that $473.5 million was bet on its machines during the month, a 4.5 percent increase over the $453 million bet in November 2016. Mohegan Sun’s handle of $588.1 million last month was up 3 percent over the $570.7 million of a year ago.
The casinos forward 25 percent of their slots winnings to the state. Foxwoods’ contribution for November was $9.6 million; Mohegan Sun's was $11.9 million.
