2003: The United States launched cruise missiles, precision-guided bombs aimed at dictator Saddam Hussein in Iraq’s capital of Baghdad.
Former President George W. Bush told the American people, “The people of the United States and our friends and allies will not live at the mercy of an outlawed regime that threatens the peace with weapons of mass murder.”
1987: Televangelist Jim Bakker quit ministry due to scandal revolving around sex and money involving a former church secretary. He later served five years in federal prison for using his television show to defraud his followers.
1931: Nevada legalized casino gambling putting Las Vegas on the map. It soon became America’s gambling capital.
1962: Bob Dylan released his self-titled debut album. The singer and songwriter was just 20 years old at the time.
