Denny Hamlin finished first

It's the biggest event of the year at Kansas Speedway, and Sunday, thousands of fans crowded together for the Hollywood Casino 400. Keith Ostlund drove 11 hours form North Dakota and camped out since Thursday. “This is about as good as it gets,” he said. Ostlund is one of hundreds who decided to take in the race perched atop an RV in the infield. "It's all about the people you meet and the friends you make,” he said. Jeremy Pahl's crew came from Minneapolis."We have some people that come almost every year,” he said. Races have been going on for days, but the 267 laps Sunday were what everyone was waiting for. The RVs fly flags for the drivers they support. Rich Leahy cheered for Kyle Busch, who ended up finishing third. Denny Hamlin came in first. "I just love the sound and the thrill,” Leahy said. “You go up to the side of the track and you feel the rumble of the cars." "I just love the cars. I'm a car guy,” Pahl said. “It's really fun." The real drama was in the final elimination spots, which pushed the race a little longer. The field is down from 12 to eight. "You didn't know till the last minute who was going to win,” Dan Schneider, who came from South Dakota, said. Racing season goes by fast. Schneider is now done traveling for the year and packed away his perch with plans to watch the remaining races on TV. "It gets put away and lays in the garage for another year until we set it up and go again,” he said.
