Dylan Rowe Ships the WPT500 at partypoker for $181,545

Dylan Rowe

New Zealand's Dylan Rowe finished on top of a field of 2,420 entrants to win the WPT #01 WPT500 at partypoker for $181,545.

The event was one of two $530 buy-in events boasting a $1 million guarantee on the WPT500 schedule with the other being the WPT #13: WPT500 Knockout on March 15-23. The guarantee was smashed with entries generating a huge $1,211,000 prize pool.

It was a huge win for Rowe, who doesn't have many live results to speak of. In fact, according to The Hendon Mob, there has just been one that fit their requirements to be recorded.

Coincidentally, Rowe's only recorded result was in a WPT side event when the tour visited SkyCity Casino in New Zealand in 2019 when he went on to win the NZ$550 No Limit Hold'em - WPT New Zealand Six Max Shot Clock for NZ$16,640 ($10,857).

WPT500 Final Table Recap

The WPT500 attracted a banner field of 2,420 entrants during the nine opening flights on March 7-15 with 361 players advancing to Day 2 on March 15 with the knowledge they have banked at least a min-cash of of $1,086. The field trimmed down to just nine final table hopefuls to start yesterday's action with Andrii Novak holding the chip lead and Lukas Wimmer, Stoyan Kitanov, and Dylan Rowe closest on his tail.

James Dempsey and partypoker Ambassador Patrick Leonard announced the action on the partypokerTV YouTube and Twitch channels with a small delay with hole cards exposed.

David Singontiko was the first player eliminated at the final table in ninth place for $13,802 after he called off for four big blinds with king-eight and couldn't get there against the ace-four suited held by Rowe.

The next elimination was a huge hand for a trio of players with Kitanov holding cowboys, Deividas Kvaselis holding ladies, and Rowe finding himself with a suited big slick all getting it in preflop. Kvaselis locked down the main pot early in the hand after he flopped quads to triple up but there was still a side pot to be won. Kitanov had to fade a flush draw to stay alive but Rowe completed the draw to win the side pot and send Kitanov packing in eighth place for $17,716 on a huge cooler.

Brandon Adams
Brandon Adams finishes in seventh place.

Rowe took the lead before Novak grabbed it back. Novak then extended it in a huge way when he cracked the rockets held by Brandon Adams with tens to send his opponent to the rail in seventh place for $22,358.

Aaron Been was the next casualty in sixth place for $28,887 when he unsuccessfully jammed his short stack with king-nine suited into the ace-queen suited held by Wimmer.

Not too much later, it was Pedro Padilha Chaves on the rail in fifth place for $37,895 when his king-six couldn't hold against Rowe's eight-seven. Time was then up for Deividas Kvaselis (fourth - $55,719) who ran into Novak's pocket rockets and didn't get there with king-six.

Rowe was then winning hand after hand during three-handed action to eventually take the lead and eventually had more than half of the chips in play.

Shortly after, Rowe eliminated Wimmer in third place for $84,064. Wimmer had two pair on the turn holding seven-five and didn't improve to a full house after Rowe turned over ace-four for a wheel.

Rowe entered heads-up action with a nearly 3:1 chip advantage against Novak. Rowe extended the lead and had his opponent on the ropes when Novak jammed for less than eight big blinds with jack-nine and was called by Rowe with king-four suited. The board was all blanks and Novak was eliminated in second place for $123,255.

Meanwhile, a huge congrats to Dylan Rowe on winning the WPT #01 WPT500 at partypoker.
