WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Four people were injured Friday in a crash south of Wichita. It happened at 103rd Street South and Broadway just north of the Kansas Star Casino around 10:30 a.m.

Authorities said a southbound vehicle crossed the center line and collided with another heading north.

At the time of the crash, authorities tell KSN there was a report of a possible drunk driver in the area. “We arrived on scene and found the vehicle was on fire, and there was a total of four people injured,” said Sgt. Justin Crafton, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday afternoon, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office offered further details on the crash stating that at 10:08 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a suspected intoxicated driver near 95th Street South and Broadway. Then at 10:09 a.m, a two-vehicle injury accident was reported south of 103rd Street South and Broadway. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a severely damaged Ford Escape and Ford Fiesta.

According to a news release from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, deputies learned from the collision investigation that a southbound Ford Escape operated by a 46-year old male crossed the center line and struck the northbound Ford Fiesta driven by a 46-year old female. The Ford Escape was reportedly to be the vehicle with the suspected intoxicated driver.

The driver of the Ford Escape was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the Ford Fiesta was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Two passengers in the Ford Fiesta, ages 21 and 11, were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision remains under investigation.
